Riding Magazine is California’s finest all-breed, all-discipline equestrian publication. The magazine published my first article, and I can’t thank Cheryl Erpelding and Kim Miller enough for taking a chance and giving me my first writing gig.
I have been a freelance writer for them since 2003, contributing everything from horse show coverage to first-person essays, including ‘advertorials’ to accompany their clients’ advertisements. In July 2006, the magazine offered me a monthly column, Western Side Story, to discuss news and ideas of the western rider. I wrote the column for two-and-a-half years, until budgetary cuts forced them to discontinue it.
It has always been a pleasure to write for the magazine, and I am grateful to them for starting my career.
